Uploaded by: Gatorrock786
Video Description:
from the Kate Smith Evening Hour 1952
"I Saw the Light" by Hank Williams 1. I wandered so aimless, life filled with sin I wouldn't let my Dear Saviour in Then Jesus came like a stranger in the night Praise the Lord I saw the light Chorus - I saw the light, I saw the light No more darkness, no more night Now I'm s
o happy, no sorrow in sight Praise the Lord, I saw the light 2. Just like a blind man I wandered along Worries and fears I claimed for my own Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight Praise the Lord - I saw the light Chorus - I saw the light, I saw the light No more d
arkness, no more night Now I'm so happy, no sorrow in sight Praise the Lord, I saw the light 3. I was a fool to wander and stray Straight is the gate and narrow the way Now I have traded the wrong for the right Praise the Lord, I saw the light Chorus - I saw the light, I saw the
light No more darkness, no more night Now I'm so happy, no sorrow in sight Praise the Lord, I saw the light. (Recorded in 1947; first release on single MGM 10271 in September 1948)

Well. I believe it was Ray Price who said that for Hank to have passed when he did meant that the music we do have of him is pure Hank. He never had to be around to try and sound contemporary or struggle with his songwriting or age in a not so graceful fashion. It was a true shame to lose him so young. But the legend and the mystique were only made so much stronger by it.

I'm no expert but this kind of music is now classified more as Bluegrass. So if you want new material look at that genre. Country is a lot more like rock now. My opinion, I'm not a huge country fan but I grew up with Hank's music at home so I do like old country music and bluegrass.
