yeah, when i'm playing ,my 5 string i use to rest my thumb on the low e (or sometimes on the b) string. that's good for muting and you can reach the higher strings more easily if you've got your thumb on the e (or a string. dunno how this technique is called, someone once called it 'floating thumb technique' but i'm not sure...) i find it helpfull.

he's fairly comparable to billy sheeham... sheeham taught myung to play if i remember correctly... hence the similar 3 finger right hand technique but myung is far more melodic and a different feel all together

Myung was not taught by Sheehan. Sheehan is a great bass player; not my style. Myung played violin at an early age and moved to bass guitar and went to Berklee for a few years. He dropped out due to the band. One of the greatest bass players of our generation in my honest opinion. Think what you want but this guy can do almost anything.
