I truly feel sorry for you, because once Jesus comes back to gather up all His followers, I'll be with Him in Paradise for eternity, and you'll be in the Lake of Fire with the Devil unless you change your mind. And can you prove that God is an egomaniac? No. Does he let basd things happen like this wreck? No, but He's with us when they do. He never promised life would be easy, just that He would be with us through it all.

God isn't insecure. He just wants us to believe in Him and His son. The praise comes from all His followers wanting to thank Him and show their love for Him.
Yes, He can stop bad things like the wreck because He's omnipotent and all-powerful. There are many examples of His boldness.
He also gave us free will because He wanted to give us the freedom to choose between Him or Satan. He also gave us enough smarts to know when to stop arguing with people like you.

Today marks the 33rd anniversary of this great tragedy. Living in MN and spending most of my life near/in/around this great/terrifying lake really makes this song hit me that much more. His words are haunting and really capture the essence that is Gitche Gumee.

Well said. I totally agree with you. I've always been in awe in regards to how he makes you feel a song - especially this one, my favorite of all of his. I live in the Northeast, not really near the Great Lakes. I guess the closest would be Lake Erie. However, I do feel this song from having experienced my share of storms while spending many years in the Navy. Yup, this song can really be felt. Loved your post.

There is no point debating whether god exists. People believe in him based on personal faith, so there's no way to argue it logically. I say it's impossible to know whether or not he exists, so believe what you like. Peace
