I was 16 when this song came out. Ben Orr was my hero. I thought he was the coolest guy ever. I wanted to be just like him. Unfortunately I had no talent.

The Cars officially broke up in 1988. Elliot Easton and Greg Hawkes formed "The New Cars" in 2005 with Todd Rundgren (vocals & guitar), Kasim Sulton (bass) and Prairie Prince (drums). All killer musicians! They put out an album in 2006 called "It's Alive" featuring 13 live Cars tracks, 2 live Rundgren tracks and 3 new studio tracks. It's not bad (the live shows are really good), but it will never replace the original lineup. This "Let's Go" performance is a classic! Great crowd too!

Ben Orr died in October of 2000. He died of Pancreatic cancer. Rick is a bigtime record exec so he doesnt really want to tour etc, but the option is always open i guess. Maybe since his buddy Ben died he doesnt feel it would be the same.

I was 16 too. It was 1979. And I can remember the first time I ever heard the song. A friend and I were casing this hot babe at a park. And this tune came on his radio at that exact moment. It was the perfect soundtrack to lust after a chick to. It just puts most music in the few decades or so to shame. The good old days were the best of times. And 70s & 80s were the timeless US pop culture bomb.

So sad... pancreatic cancer is one of the worst, most painful ways to die. I sure hope they pumped him full of morphine and fentanyl etc. to ease his passing.

You've got that right. The man was a musical genius IMO. He had the voice, the looks, and most of all - the talent. Rest in Peace Mr. Benjamin Orr.
