A husband has no more authority over his wife than she does over him, they are just two people who have decided to build a life, home and family together. If any husband says 'this is what we're going to do' without justifying a decision, the wife will quite rightly say 'no we're not doing that just cos you say so'. The husband can either make his wife obey out of fear of his 'authority', or he can behave like a civillised human being and persuade his wife of the good reasons to do something.
