no it was o.d. of anti depressants and sleeping pills. his sister thinks nick's mindset was, "what the hell. if i die, whatever. but if i wake up tomorrow, things will be different." that's what she contends to. but i love this demo version better than the five leaves left version. it's so much more real

Ya'll are all retards. It's called wikipedia for a reason. He didn't hang himself, he overdosed on antidepressants. And yes, he did massive amounts of drugs, including shrooms and marijuana. He died when he was 26. He only sold like 10,000 records when he was alive, that's probably why you've never heard of him. He didn't tour or anything, that's why he wasn't real popular.

I have to disagree. Elliot Smith doesn't play very much like the way famous artists do and did. Drake and Smith both have a very basic music, not as a bad thing. Soft, quiet music, and a voice. Pretty simple. That's probably a bad explanation, but I think you guys can understand what I mean. I do see the connection, in the music and the lyrics. Plus I think Eliot Smith killed himself too.

Drake's music is by no means simple. It's complex in its execution, and is rather oddball (as regards tunings, etc.) for an acoustic guitar player.
