Creating and adding (or learning how to, "add") a sitemap to a Homestead website is very simple. The first step is making a file for the site map to go into on your computer. Then begin to generate the map at a site called XML-Sitemaps.com. The program has a maximum of 500 pages. Once it is gener
ated, download it into the file you created for it. Now open your Homestead websites file manager and click on the Import icon at the top right of the page. A box will appear to browse your computer, find the XML sitemap file and click on it an then hit open. Locate the site map in the index to your
right and click on it to high lite, publish the file. Next go to your free Google Web masters account that you have previously set up and click where it says add site map to the domain name you generated it for. You will only have to add "sitemap.xml" in the text box. That's all there is to adding
sitemaps to Homesteads websites. The process will help you get better rankings and also more pages will be indexed by the search engines. Many of the articles that I have read about SEO have suggested that adding this tool improves search engine results.
