Noone is stupid just because they are young. If you are interrested in these matter I wholeheartedly encourage you to inform yourself in the matter and not take hyperbole sensationalist talk at face value. It is indeed an interresting subject.
Yes, there is more fallout dust the closer we get to the plant, and should the sarcophagus suffer a collapse, there will be more. But the radioactivity lessens over time, and dust can be lifted and removed.

For instance: Iodine-131 was a major worry. It is a beta and gamma radiant that accumulate in the thyroid gland and is very likely to cause thyroid cancer if taken in in too large quantities.
But I-131 has a half-life of 8.02 days. In april this years, we passed its 1000 halfife aniversary. That means the I-131 has been halved 1000 times, i.e. there's nothing left of it. Like I said: read up. Inform yourself. You can never have too much facts... only too little. :)

yes but the other material, URAINIUM (i think thats how you spell it) has an approximet halflife of 50 years and it therefore has only been halfed once so its not yet fully depleated

yes there are people living there, but not near the reactor, something like 50kms away, and they say that they still drink milk from their own cows because now their bodies support that level of radiation. if somebody tries to drink from that milk, you could consider yourself dead.

Such a tragedy.... I am really shocked how far the radiation went....What a disaster....Just imagine how bad a nuklear war would be with an asshole like George Bush doing this 1000 times over, the world would be an inferno for thousands of years and the only people safe would be the scum who made it happen, in their bunkers. EVERYONE would die slow and painfully.....EVERYONE.

STALKER is set in chernobyl.... Also, it isn't exactly easy to accuratly map somewhere that not very many people get to visit. You do know that to go into the exclusion zone, you have to have a special pass, which are not easy to get. You can either buy one, or get one if you're a scientist or whatever.

If 1 small reactor did all that damage to the nothern hemisphere, then think what a nuklear bomb would do, remember it's designed to have a radiation kill zone of 70 miles and it still causes horrible mutations. And if a nuklear war broke out, hundreds of those bombs would be used. The UK, USA, North Korea, China, Russia and also Isreal would be firing them aroun like crazy, there realy would be nowhere safe. -____-

Nucelar will NOT break out as long as the people who have them are relativily sane. The only cause of nucelar war would be if these crazy muslims get hold of them (eg IRAN). Nuclear power stations are completely safe. New technology always has slipups in the beginning, but these days, there are so many saftey regulations regarding nuclear power, it is completely safe. There is a bigger chance of aliens ass raping your mother than there is of a nuclear powerstation blowing up.
