I can see what Hegemoner is saying, as this is so far removed from Talking heads when they first started...very polished, where they used to be rough around the edges, which to many was their appeal. Thing is though this as with much of Talking Heads stuff, this was way ahead of it's time in terms of what Technology was used.

One of the most under-rated bands of all time. One of the few groups (imho) who sounds as great live as they do in the studio.

Not a bad version but this is one song I prefer the studio version to, it's slower and much more intense,no background singers,just his voice,an absolutely perfect recording,one of if not the best Talking Heads song IMO. Byrne's vocals on the studio version are just unreal,his little shouts,squeaks and other vocalizations, downright amazing.

Actually they've always been well respected and well rated,by fans and critics,were one of the original pioneering MTV bands,still get radio play, are now practically legendary, especially Byrne. :) You're right about them live!

Nah, I'm just an old,lol, if you do get a chance to see Byrne or the THeads live, do so! In a way you were right, they were a little too odd to truly make it to the mega-band level,it take those of exceptional taste to appreciate them ;) ,but they had a good run.

Exactly. Several bands were great, had a huge following, respected by critics etc., but they never really made it into the mainstream. Grateful Dead comes to mind also. They had like, what, one major hit their entire career? And they were around for decades. Sigh. And then we've got Britney Spears. Do you think they'll be playing her "hits" even five years from now? Much less 20 or 30.
