(July 30)Journalists working in the main press center for the summer Olympics in Beijing have found access to some websites blocked. (SOT: FABIAN TETELBOIM, "TERRA ARGENTINA" WEBSITE) YES, I SAW SOME WEB PAGES THAT WERE BLOCKED. INTERNATIONAL AMNESTY. ON WIKIPEDIA, I TRIED TO FIND OUT SOMETHING ABOUT TIBET AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE.Reporters say they were unable to pull up information on Tibet or the Falun Gong--a spiritual group panned by the Chinese government. When questioned about the blocked access, a Chinese official called the group an evil cult.(SOT: PHELIM KINE, HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH SPOKESMAN) THEY (JOURNALISTS) ARE ENTERING AN ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH MEDIA FREEDOM IS NOT GRANTED. THEY ARE ENTERING THE HEART OF A SYSTEM WHICH IS HOSTILE TO MEDIA FREEDOM.When it bid for the Olympics seven years ago, China promised that the media would have complete freedom to report. A sentiment they echoed Wednesday.(SOT: SUN WEIDE, BEIJING OLYMPIC ORGANISING COMMITTEE SPOKESMAN:)AS I SAID, WE WILL BE PROVIDING FULL ACCESS TO THE INTERNET TO FACILITATE YOUR REPORTING DURING THE OLYMPIC GAMES, SO THAT YOUR REPORTING DURING THE OLYMPIC GAMES WILL NOT BE AFFECTED IN ANY WAY.An International Olympic committee officials says Chinese officials promise that the blocked sites are not related to the games.(SOT: KEVAN GOSPER, CHAIRMAN OF THE IOC MEDIA COMMISSION) "I WOULD LIKE IT TO BE MORE OPEN THAN THAT AND THAT'S WHAT I'VE SAID ALL THE WAY THROUGH. BUT WE CANNOT TELL THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT WHAT THEIR POSITION IS ON COMMUNICATIONS."A group called Reporters Without Borders has given journalists tips on how to get around online censorship. ___ ___, The Associated Press.

| The chinese government isn't into human rights. Didn't you know that? Still, here we, the ever greedy u.s.a., are holding olympic games there. What hypocrisy.. The american people should be ashamed that these "games" are being held in communist china, but most americans are dumb as a stump when it comes to politics. | China will make a few calls and everything Chinese will be pulled off the Internet. Remember when Yahoo's co-founder Jerry Yang gave China the contact 411 for journalist, Shi Tao? (He's currently in a Chinese prison). Heck, all China has to do is a make a few calls and the USA will acquiesce to any and all of the communist giant's demands. Why? Why do you think? Yep. Money. |

China spys on other countries, hacks in to computer and make viruses like WE LUV China and China made posinous toys, they people are as brainwash as Bush supporters what ever happens in this Olympics its because of world leaders and China.
