That Guy don't sound like he's a liberal Christian, he sounds part Marcionite-part Sethian. Here are my reasons for saying this: He takes a rather anti-Semitic approach to the Old Testament and he gives no mention that Christ was Jewish. He also refers to a gnostic text, specifically Judas, which is discredited by several scholars. He doesn't mention the sayings Gospel of Thomas or Q. Now Thomas is considered "gnostic" in certain aspects, but also primitive.

Q maybe a hypothesis, but once you reason with it, it makes sense. Going back to the Guy, he is very dualistic in his thinking which is another attribute of Marcionite-Sethian philosophy and partly Greek. If this Guy was really a follower of who he claims to follow, he wouldn't be the Super Mario bashing Shirly on her cranium.

Disclaimer: I do NOT agree with the Westboro Baptist Church or Shirley Phelps Roper. That being said...
I only listened to the first 2 1/2 minutes but here's what I have to say in response to the uncle: 1) She said the guy from the other church was REMARRIED, not just divorced, which counts as adultery in the Bible.

2) She does NOT say that all the members of her church are going to heaven and everyone else is going to hell. She's said in interviews that maybe some of the members of her own church won't make it to heaven, and maybe there are some people out there who follow the Bible as closely as she does, she just hasn't seen them. For her, it has nothing to do with what "church" you're affiliated with. She believes as long as you follow the word of God, you should be fine.

Also there is a The Atheist's Bible: An Illustrious Collection of Irreverent Thoughts by Joan Konner. Although it's not subscribed to by atheists as a group. It is entertaining reading.

there is a book that i looked through at barnes and noble once that shows that jesus did in fact live but went into hiding after he "died" on the cross, where he visited india and china and europe where people would not recognize him and eventually settled down in france or britain. and wrote letters to his mother and brother telling them everything that he was doing, which was after his supposed death

My main issue with our modern day bible, is,.... it was not written in English. It has been translated over, and over. In translating language, if you translate incorrectly, just one word, it can change the meaning of the verse. I somehow doubt that this woman has the bible (and can read it) in the original language. If she can not, she is not reading the true Word of God.

This guy doesn't sound like much of a Christian to me. I've come across a lot of people who'd describe themselves as liberal Christians, and none of them would be quite as dismissive of the Bible as this guy. I wonder how long it's going to take for him to have a crisis of faith and reject the whole thing.
