Sadly for an experienced photographer he comments a lot of his equipment, not like the best photographers who doesn't really care of what equipment they use.

So what do you base that generalisation on? We interview photographers for a living. Some are interested in their gear, some aren't, just like the rest of us. John talked about his equipment because I asked him to. The clue is in the title of our magazine: What Digital Camera.

Photography is one of the rare arts that requires both technical proficiency as well as artistic talent. The best photographes DO care about their equipment inasmuch as it gets them the image they want. Some photographers want lo-fi images, so a $5K camera will not work, whereas others require sharpness edge to edge wide open, whereas a $30 Diana would not work. Do not confuse the varying prices of good photographers cameras with how much they care about the equipment they use.

One of my first photography books was by John Freeman, I was just 13, a definate inspiration.
Since then, I've graduated with an honours degree in Photography, worked for publications, and now work for agencies as a sports and news photographer....and now sit here surfing, whilst on my day off, and stumble across this...
without your books I may well not be doing something I enjoy so much....and making a living from it!
THANK YOU JOHN FREEMAN :)
