Just a few questions? Is that Neil Young? I know Stills is singing lead? Who are the other three guys? Also, where did the audience come from? It looks like very familiar like some private college audience, caught in their first exposure to the counter-culture revolution that was being born around this time. Some in the audience appear dumbfounded, bewildered, not knowing exactly how to respond. They were captive in time somewhere between Jan and Dean and Jimmi Hendrix.

that is neil young.from the opening shot of the band, It is Neil Young on the left Stills in the middle and Ritcie Furay who would later form the seminal country rock group Poco with Jim Messina...The drummer is Dewey Martin...I don't see the bass player in this clip, but it would be Bruce Palmer...Messina played bass for a short time after palmer left...The MC was Flip Wilson, so i would assume that the band was appearing on his variety TV show

hey 1after909, thanks for identifying them for me; you could almost hear a little hint of Poco in this. But I'm more inclinded to hear a little CSN&Y; the harmony these guys are laying down are reminicent of the kind of harmonies that Crosby, Stills, and Nash laid down. I'm still pretty intrigued about the audience though.

Hey Curt! Yeah, I was making a joke about the chick in the audience's reaction right after they focus on Stephen Stills. I've TOTALLY been digging the Springfield as of late. I got the 4-disc box set in October and have been playing portions of it everyday lately. There's a killer previously unreleased track on disc 2 called "My Kind Of Love" that's I've had on repeat! I had mutton chops like Steve back in late '06. Search "Matthew McKay" on my Facebook profile!

"I was in on all the auditions for the Monkees, from the beginning. Stephen Stills didn't formally audition, but we all admired his early work with the Buffalo Springfield, so he was approached with an offer. But he said, "It's not my kind of music, guys, but I have this friend, Peter." Peter Tork showed up and said, "Stephen Stills sent me," and they were lookalikes at the time, so we said, "Oh, really, are you his brother?""
