Did they have altar rails? Going to vernacular can B an opening 4 modernization. Languages hold meanings that can be lost when the language is lost. Cultures R sustained by their language. It's modernism in that people don't want 2 learn the language of the dominant culture of the soul: the Faith. The Faith is a culture. It has&has had different languages, but the ancient forms that're not the common dialect. Then, it is succumbed to a man-made culture. Language, borders culture!

Is there a classic version of this rite allowed today like my rite, the Roman type, has the extraordinary (maybe God planned for that title) rite called the traditional Latin (Holy Sacrifice of the) Mass? I'd like to watch it here.

There is only version of the rite with very minor changes over the past 7 centuries , the maronite rite is different than the Roman, in the sense that prayers during mass change heavily depending on the liturgical time or feast day celebrated. Even for the third part of the mass from the consecration of the Eucharist (called Anaphora) till communion the priest has the choice of using 7 different versions Anaphora of 12 Apostles, Saint Peter, Saint James ...

My understanding is that this is not "the ritual that has sustained Lebanese Christians in their faith for centuries" but rather that has sustained their faith for the last 30 years ... i.e. since Vatican II.
