well, I am a BA historian (uk) and I just wanted to say what a fantastic and lovely video that was. I am fascinated by antebellum slavery; its cruelties and soul-imprisonments, and their religious/plantation songs were super important to them... well done kids n teachers! (ps - read 'uncle Toms Cabin' by Harreiry Beecher Stowe) x S.Button

I bet most people don't know that. It's easier to teach a distorted perspective of history in schools than it is to account for an embarassing blemish such as the advocacy and institution of slavery. It's sad- but there is a responsibility upon each of us to learn about not only our own culture and heritage but to explore, on your own, the culture of the people you live amongst and interact with on a day to day basis. Thank you for the video!

You ain't kidding. I got in trouble teaching 5th graders that Columbus allowed his cohorts to enslave Native Americans because he was a poor manager. But in my opinion, it's better to get in trouble speaking truth to power (and children) than to allow history's lesson to go unheeded. This was a fantastic project! I just love this video.

The first thing a muslim should do after having made a sin is (he must free a slave)
and if there are no slaves, then he or she should do what's next! this is how slavery vanaished! so, Islam is behind the FREEDOM of all slaves around the whole word! Islam is all about Peace! the words (Islam, Salam) mean submission & Peace!
so,dear viewer, stop the hate and stop being racist! dont judge Islam and muslims, read about them!

i for one cringe at the tragedy, the inhuman treatment, the whole injustice and harm done to so many innocent people. but to me it doesnt matter that it was done by whites. you know, im austrian (and white) and i dont feel connected to what happened in WW2 either. it just makes me sad, no matter who did it.

I can tell you as a white boy that I'm eternally ashamed of this part of history and of the ignorant people claiming to represent whites today when infact they only represent bigotry, fear and hatred. They do not represent my beliefs in any way and as far as I'm concerned they are the shame of the human race.

As a white person, I can honestly say what happened as far as African-American Slavery is sad and unfortunate, however, I don't feel responsible at all. It wasn't my personal ancestors and I don't think we should all just be lumped together like that. Besides, whites weren't the only ones to have committed slavery. It's happened all over the world..."blacks" tend to forget that part.

I think the hard and sad part of America's history is there attitude in present day. So many whites do not see the generational harm that has been done. It is no doubt that after so many years, Blacks still hurt; not physically, but it's more about the eroded values and so much poverty. It's harder to heal the wound of being marginalized as inferiors than it is to heal the scars of the whips from the slave drivers.

That was a very good video, thanks for making it. It would really open someone's eyes. So many people don't get exactly what our ancestors went through just because of their race. I think the downfall or this whole nation is doing the opposite of what exactly the country was founded on and that's a shame that you can't live up to the principles that you were established on.
