Blind Owl was heavily into hard drugs. They killed him. The Bear also died sometime thereafter, but I don't know if that was drug related or not. If Blind Owl had lived... if if if... his superb musicmanship would have been more widely recognized I'm sure. I seem to recall that he studied classical music at a very high level - I don't recall the details now.

Actually and unfortunately, the blind owl killed himself.
He was legally blind and very depressed and purposly overdosed on barbituates and alchohol. He was one of the most underrated muscicians of the time.
