No Mark, not ... ( 1 year ago by johnnybeyond)
No Mark, not Harvard, NYU which is one of the 10 most expensive schools in the country, not that you'd know never having gone to college yourself, but here's an idea: go to one, get a degree, then go to psba*org and apply for a teaching position in your area. If not, stick to plumbing and give us all a break.
Lastly, Mark, I ... ( 1 year ago by johnnybeyond)
Lastly, Mark, I must say I hope your children don't have the same crap teachers you did. It's clear you have a lot of unresolved issues on that score. BTW the last plumber I had did a terrible job and still got paid a fortune. By your logic, I guess that makes us all about even.
Once again MR. mike ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Once again MR. mike and Johnny fail to tell us all thier income??? I wonder why?? Because you the taxpayer would be SHOCKED!!! And yet they want more.
1 -Mr. mike, I don't think the people in my area would appreciate the thought that where we live is not a"better place". Perhaps you should do some research before you label places and towns as "bad places". Is it the income level or the value of a persons house that makes certain area's "better places".
Mr. mike - secondly ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Mr. mike - secondly in response to your comment. My "better place" served me just fine. My brother( I have 2) went to the same high school as I did and he is now a board certified doctor. So looks like the teachers are ok in our "better place " town. I had no desire to go to college, never will, I'm a self made man. I don't need a 4 year education to do what I do but oddly enough, I make more than you do.... opps.
You actually in my ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
You actually in my opinion, seem to be a very bitter person. Perhaps it's the idea that you picked a profession in which the focus is on the children(not criminals as johnny refers to many of them)but children. And not on the idea that we the taxpayers need to provide you with some lavish lifestyle. It sounds to me as if you need to move away from east meadow and move to an area that you can afford. You knew the salaries a teacher makes before you decided to become one?
NOW MR. JOHNNY- IN ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
NOW MR. JOHNNY- IN RESPONSE- just as Mike did, You knew about the violence at some schools before you decided to become one? There is violence everywhere. But to compare your danger level at school to one of a policeman's job?? Please don't insult those brave law enforcement officers by doing that.
Johnny- secondly, I ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Johnny- secondly, I never have been nor will I go to college. For me there never was and never will be a need. And yet I'd say I make more than most college graduates. But for you to say I don't know about the cost or time college takes???? My brother is a board certified Doctor of Emergency Medicine at York Hospital. Need I say more??
My guess is your ... ( 1 year ago by johnnybeyond)
My guess is your brother the doctor makes more money than you do. Should we, the taxpayers, be shocked? No. He's more educated, more trained and what he does is WAY more difficult than what YOU do. Just like a TEACHER, except someone TAUGHT him how to be a doctor, which makes the social value of a teacher inestimable (unless you think snaking out a toilet is worth more than turning some kid's life around-especially if it's yours).
Johnny- lastly, in ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Johnny- lastly, in response to your comment on the lousy plumber you had that charged a fortune. A- If your a college educated man, surely some simple plumbing work that doesn't require a college education
to preform you should have done it yourself? B-It's generalizations about things that surprise me most about you. and about Mike. I say children and students.. You say CRIMINALS.
Yes. After that ... ( 1 year ago by johnnybeyond)
Yes. After that incident, I learned to do it myself. It's not that hard. I know, why don't YOU jump on the "gravy train" and try teaching Shakespeare to a troubled urban population? Let's be honest: you couldn't and that's the point. That's why we should get paid more. Plus, I would re-read your own posts for a redefinition of "bitter."
I never said being ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
I never said being a plumber is more valuable than being a teacher, Nor did I mention that being a doctor is better than being a teacher. They are all jobs that I'm sure the persons using that service at the time appreciate and find important. By the way, Has your school had any problems with the teachers having sexual relations with the students as I see happening so much around the country these days? Is that teaching children(sorry as you refer to your students:criminals)social values?
Johnny- As far as ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Johnny- As far as teaching shakespeare to a troubled urban population(or as you say the criminals). Your right I wouldn't. In todays world I'd spend more time teaching things that will be used on a daily basis and real life skills. Not a language that isn't even used anymore.
Mark, I make barely ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
Mark, I make barely enough to pay my bills. I needed to start two businesses in order to make eds meet while my wife stayed home for 6 years with the kids. But again, this was never the issue. I will explain the issue very simply in the following post...
First... It is ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
First... It is better for kids to have GOOD TEACHERS than POOR TEACHERS... AGREE??? OK... In order to keep GOOD TEACHERS working in my town, my town needs to offer COMPETITIVE SALARIES and BENEFITS with the surrounding towns. Otherwise, the better teachers and good NEW TEACHERS will seek employment elsewhere. Simple enough???
So... Even if ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
So... Even if teachers in my town make $100,000... if all the surrounding towns pay $300,000 my kids get the least qualified teachers. Very simple my man...
Mike- yes sir I ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Mike- yes sir I agree 100% our children deserve the best teachers. But can you answer me this? And please be patient, as you stated I am not from a "better town" or am not "better educated" so please be patient. But if you continue to raise and raise taxpayers school taxes.(to pay teachers more and more)wont those taxpayers that find themselves having difficulty paying those taxes and living expenses, leave the district.
After the taxpayers ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
After the taxpayers leave due to such high taxes who would want to live in that area?
The school district ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
The school district gets a big check that they divide up according to how they want to spend that money (buildings and grounds, transportation, teacher salaries, educational resourse, etc...) In my particular town, there is a HUGE SURPLUS of money in the school budget while at the same time the teachers are the third lowest paid teachers in Long Island (probably close to 100 separate districts). It's not the salaries that are driving up your tax bill.
There are many, ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
There are many, many other factors that have to do with the spending habits of the local administration and Bd. of Education. Mike
Mike- If I my be ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
Mike- If I my be honest friend. We may just have to agree to disagree. In my opinion, teachers are overpaid for the work they do allready. Your scare tactic technique to try to salvage your diminishing property values due to the greed primarily of the school teachers is shameless. Try to back up half the things you say with facts not opinions. And stop with the generalizations.
In one post you say ... ( 1 year ago by markv33)
In one post you say teachers are so busy during the summer grading tests, papers, projects,ect... But in the other you say most teachers have to get summer jobs to supplement thier income? You really don't make much sense and you don't back up anything with facts. I have an idea friend. Why don't you try to donate some income to your school district if you care so much.
Not scare tactics.. ... ( 1 year ago by HYPNOSISWORKS123)
Not scare tactics... Just common sense. If plumbers got paid much more in the town next to yours, where would you work? Who would still work in your town? The crappy plumbers (no pun intended). Simple supply and demand Marky. Mike
No, Markv33, YOU ... ( 1 year ago by johnnybeyond)
No, Markv33, YOU called my students criminals and are preoccupied with "sexual relations with [children]"? You're on the wrong site if you're looking for that. Seriously,Dude, go to a psychiatrist and get some help for your anger/sexual issues. I'm serious. You're both an idiot and downright sick!
