Come on!the Beatles are seen as the greatest because they were the first who created modern rock'n'roll.But I guess there are many band better than them (including U2, but not Katrina or so :D)

The Beatles are (in MY opinion) the greatest band 'cause they released all their albums in about 8 years. EIGHT YEARS!!! 8 years ago, U2 released ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND. I love U2, but I'm only explaining why I place The Beatles higher.________ P.S. Katrina & The Waves were a one hit wonder band in the 80s. I. WAS. BEING. SARCASTIC. WITH. #3.

I can see why people like the Beatles better, but I actually like U2 the best. U2 just has their own style of music. It doesn't really fit any known style, they just kinda... do it. That's why I like them. There's something about their music that's just different from everything else. It's my favorite style, personally.

look the beatles will always be one of my favourite bands but they will never trump u2 for the reason that the beatles always seemed distant when singing their songs, as if they didnt really believe what they were singing. the very opposite is true with u2.

The frequency of the Beatles releases has no bearing on the quality of their work. Bono sings like a man trying to fight his way out of prison and has used his fame to promote good in the world. The Beatles sang like they were trying to fight their way out of their own haircuts and used their fame to promote drug abuse. None can touch my boy Elvis.

I'm kinda astonished myself. I have grown with U2. Starting around 80-82. And I was captured by the emotion of the songs in the beginning. Bono's voice is a required taste. The music is ALL OVER THE BOARD. But once you get the bug for U2. It's a done deal. My faves are actually most the B-sides. Best band ever IMO... ; )

I you compare how both groups handled fame. It seemed the Beatles felt they were "more popular than God." While U2 triumphs christianity in many of their songs. I could live without the "fly" attitude from Bono.
