Just what magic formula connotes "qualified" in your book Tamarlane? They are both infinitely more qualified than G.W. and McSame isn't even a rational option. The real "terror" is the corporate newsertainers who spread fact deficient manure to sustain a large crop of two legged mushrooms that wait eagerly in the dark for the next load of crap. A poorly informed citizenry is a greater danger to our democracy than any politician.

easymike Thanks for asking. First, to qualify for the job IMHO one must have some executive experience. Running a large state as governor would qualify in my book. Second, an abiding love for this country, and dedication towards maintaining the standards and mores of the USA. A belief that the US is a good place that does good things for her people and for the rest of the world. Lastly, since I am limited to 500 words here, I would prefer someone dedicated to protecting the US from outside

Your "ideals" are in tact as are the ideals of most Americans. However, believing that America is a good place does not mean that it's government always does good Just has electing a former governor does not mean you have a person with executive skills or good judgment. GWB is a primary example.

America is in little danger of a real threat by other countries or outside agents. The perceived threat is one manufactured by politicians and corporations to garner and hold power. Our "standards and mores" are constantly under attack by them. We need a credible media for citizens to have a reasonable and informed discussion.

China, Russia and all other places are still dependant on the US for their economy. There is a saying here : If America coughs, Asia collapses. That is true for the whole world. Look at BNP Paribas and other banks who went to their knees recently. As for our education system, we must not scrap it, we need to get more involved in it. Learn from Asia in this matter. US does not take education seriously enough. If US can survive Bush for 8 years, we can survive anything.

And the Republican party put forth good ol' McCain who is a great person, he spoke at my school and I got to ask him a few questions afterwards. But he doesn't have set ideas on a ton of issues. In multiple interviews he has flipped his stance on certain ideas in the same interview. That is the last kind of person we need in the oval office.
