mister2drums....I saw Chicago on June 19/07 and Lee Loughnane was not playing trumpet with the band at that performance. I think he is being given some time off on the current tour to rest and is being substitued by the trumpet player you see in this video. This also happened a couple of years ago when I saw them...both Pankow and Parazaider were substituted with other horn players, but Loughnane was present.

ok. I remember last new year's they had a special on Directv and the two horn players you're talking about were playing with Lee. I seem to recall that Jimmy and Walt were having some health issues hence the subs. I hope they are ok. I can understand with their grueling schedule it can take their toll on them. I'd hate to lose them.

It is hard work blowing a horn, especially blowing Chicago's complex horn arrangements. And remember, these guys are now in their sixties. I assume the
horn players need the occassional rest (more so than the other instruments which require less effort).
Mind you, Pankow and Parazaider were playing better than I have ever heard them at last month's concert.

I went to my first Chicago/ America concert on 7/7/07.
BOTH bands rocked the house. All parties sound amazing which is why they CAN continue to tour. I am planning to see both bands again before the year is up. The release of America's "Here & Now" is what got me interested. I also purchased Chicago "XXX" and have not regretted getting either one. Dewey Bunnell has such an iconic voice, and I believe Robert Lamm to be in a second "prime".

I am so delightfully happy to see such a mixture of world famous bands like Chicago and America. This is absolutely for posterity. Both groups are unique-I love them so much.

Make sure to see them if they both come back to play together. I saw them at Northly Island , an outdoor venue that sits just shy of Lake Michigan. I won the tickets on WGN radio. I think it was 7/7/07 too! Soldiers Field was just behind the stage and Navy Pier to the right, it was all lit for the 4th of July and the concert was so great. America sounded perfect. I may be getting older but I know a good concert when I go to one!
