You must mean the "Blue Donau" by Strauss. Fun explaining I must say, not bad! Kubrick moved the film after the waltz, and it matches perfect! The ringstation is like a dancer with hands straight out, and moves with the music. Then the other ships joins the rythm..

This might help: -unknown Beings direct our evolution via Monoliths because they believe Intelligence to be the greatest gift in the Universe -HAL goes insane because he's programmed to report truth, but told to lie -Bowman flies INTO the Monolith, sees it is a stargate used by many species & is Evolved to the Space Child (a lower form of the Beings) to stop potential nuclear war & help us continue evolving.
