i asked my friends if they knew who the cure was, and they didnt know, if you ask me music back then and older bands are better then almost any of these pussy ass one hit bands now a days. i know you guys may think different but to me, the cure is probably one of the major bases for current emo rock, which sucks. i dont know how something so great turned into something so horrible, like cutting yourself and dying. there is no glory in killing yourself and people do miss you more when ur dead but

its still not rigt to do it, its selfish and robs your family and friends of the ones they love, even if they dont show it. i may be young but im really into the older songs and i can hold a more in depth comversation with my friends' parents than my friends. which is sad. my friends are great though and my life is pretty great except for a recent problem with some pussy armenians jumping my friend (10 to be exact) even though my name on this is anthonyisemo i am not, it is just a name i chose

i said that so none of you would bug me and say, how could you not cut yourself if your not already emo? and stuff. yes ive lost friends and it hurts losing people close to you, but for some reason the cure lifts my sadness becuase for some weird reason their songs' are upbeatish to me, and thats something we dont really have nowadays, is rock with happy beats and great meanings. so whenever i feel sad or im about to cry, i listin to this song and remember the fact that:"boys dont cry." -anthony

Close. It's actually a spinoff of mid-eighties hardcore. And emo in that form doesn't exist much anymore. Indie/emo bands from the nineties are my favorite kind of emo though. Check out Cursive, Braid, and Sunny Day Real Estate.

Great vid--but the facts are wrong. this is from the re-release of "Boys Don't Cry" in 1985 or 86. It was released with the Cure's Standing On Th Beach singles collection.
