The Christian bible ... ( 2 months ago by taijiman7777)
The Christian bible, for one, tells people to stone unmarried non-virgins. It also says a widow should marry her brother-in-law and that it is fine to have many wives and concubines. The bible tells of God's support for Moses, David, and others waging wars of aggression against their enemies. Augustine of H. & Thomas Aquinas talk of "Just Wars." Crusaders thought killing infidels would get them into Heaven. Scripture has justified wars by Jew, Shintos, Saxons, Lutherans, Hindus, Buddhists,...

Aside from the laughs, the great writing and the great cast, it is nice to see a show that depicts people who are more like the Muslims I know. Some wear their religion on their sleeve, others don't. But the more I learn about their religion, the more I see them and their religion as being like myself and mine. Perhaps this show will help us all become a little more cosmopolitan, and a little wiser.

Again, other faiths are are neither inspired by, nor do they credit religion as Muslim terrorists do. Our first clue that this is the scarcity of Christian terrorist groups. Not too many people are losing their heads to fanatics screaming praises to Jesus (or Moses, Buddha or the many Hindu gods either) as they are to shouts of 'Allah Akbar'! That there are so many Islamic terrorist groupsis enough to impress any reasonable person that there is something far more dangerous about Islam.

Sara Palin? LOL! ... ( 2 months ago by infidel2008)
Sara Palin? LOL! And as far as I know Pat Robertson hasn't strapped a suicide bomb belt onto anyone. Consider the scope of the problem. Virtually nothing has been heard from these "other groups" you mention. They are fringe groups at best and in the last several years there have been perhaps a dozen or so religiously-inspired killings by people of all other faiths combined. By contrast, Islamic terrorists staged over TEN THOUSAND deadly attacks in the years following September 11th, 2001.

"three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies & statistics"-Mark Twain. You frame Islamic Fundamentalism a in specific era when political & economic forces are manipulating religious fervour on all sides to provoke various types of warfare, including suicide bombings. The same political and economic forces are using terrorism as an excuse for military wars of aggression regime change. None of these events reflects the real Islam. But what does it say about the West?

Sadly, you are a typical Canadian. Canada is arguably the most deluded industrialized nation in the world. Because elitists like you think the U.S. is the font of the world's problems, they think being different than the U.S. and sucking up to the United Nations will buy them grace on the cheap. Perhaps you ask yourself: Why on earth would Muslim terrorists want to hurt a "nice" country? Well, for starters, nice isn't all it's cracked up to be.
There's good reason ... ( 2 months ago by infidel2008)
There's good reason to believe that niceness is part of the problem, not the solution. Many Canadians (and Americans and Europeans) cling to a deep-seated belief that more multiculturalism, more interfaith dialogue, more "understanding," more Western apologies, more acceptance of Sharia, more "niceness" will fix the problem. That niceness might kill you.
The frog who carried the scorpion on his back in Aesop's fable was nice. It didn't make the scorpion's sting any less poisonous.

Islamic fundamentalism isn't relagated to one part of the world, friend. It's springing up in many countries with a growing Muslim population. Denmark, France, England, Canada, Spain...all enjoying the 'benefits' of Islam.
Homegrown terrorism is on the rise in Britain and in you own country and STILL you support Islam. While everyone continues to mouth the usual platitudes about how Muslims are simply misunderstood...the reality speaks of something far worse.

So there it is! The reason you live in fear. Nationalist rednecks buy into the "Yer fer us or against us" doctrine. You categorise people as things & rail against "elitists" (btw: "elite" means "good"). You believe that the people in charge of your country should be narrow minded un-diplomatic ignoramuses "like you". You claim others are evil, to justify being more evil yourselves. Will you feel more secure when you have alienated the whole world? You are what you hate, my dear friend.
LOL, and you live ... ( 2 months ago by infidel2008)
LOL, and you live with your head in the clowds believeing in the uber-liberal policies of 'diversity' and 'multiculturalism' without adressing the facts. No, turning a blind eye to the facts because it might impact your sensitive world view. Completely ignore reality because it could be 'insensitive'. So, there it is: You are unable to ask yourself the difficult questions because you are afraid of the answer. So who's the one really living in fear? Not I.

I wish you luck, my friend. Try not to kill your friends & loved ones. Collateral damage is no fun at all, and the more enemies you have, the worse it gets. Love is the opposite of fear. Compassion is the only antidote to hatred. Those who sew terror succeed when hatred is the only response. Perhaps you are at a point in your life when talk of love and compassion may stick in your craw. I've been there. But there is no peace without it. Soldiers waste their lives when the rest propagate hate

"Si vis pacem, para bellum".
I know who my enemies are and putting a flower in their weapons will not stop them for being fired. You're the one who needs the luck. I have reality on my side.
Watch Ahmadinejad on Larry King. You think they want to be friends? Yeah...good luck is right.
"Si vis pacem, para ... ( 2 months ago by taijiman7777)
"Si vis pacem, para bellum"- translates as "If you want peace, prepare for war." This saying is attributed to a little-known military writer and veterinarian of the late Roman Empire. It describes the thinking of the Roman military. Do you know what happened to the Roman Empire? I prefer, Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster. One thing is certain, you will never learn the truth about anyone by hating them.
All war is ... ( 2 months ago by taijiman7777)
All war is deception.-Sunzi. The enemy is seldom who you think it is. Many successful wars are won by making the enemies hate and fight each other, while the real villain sits in safety, profiting by the hatred fomented discretely from a distance.
You cannot ... ( 2 months ago by taijiman7777)
You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war. - Albert Einstein I agree with the need for military might. But we must understand that the job of the soldier is often to clean up the mess created by failed diplomacy and short-sighted politics. Canadian soldiers set examples of courage and compassion that make me want to be a better man. They also make me want to ensure that the peace they fight for will not be wasted by blind hatred and irrational fear.
What happened to ... ( 2 months ago by infidel2008)
What happened to the Roman Empire is happening to the Western world. It is self-destructing. Imploding. One only has to look at the situation in Britain, France, Denmark and other European countries to know what will happen to North America within ten years. Take a stroll in East London as I have. It's a different world, my friend. Closer to home - Toronto.
Once you have learned the truth about someone...hate, love or indifference is fair game.

If 'twere just a matter of spending all the money on the military to defend "our way of life" & leaving no money left to pay for the very same way of life, the society would just collapse, and we might look forward to eventually becoming like was is left of the Roman empire - a bunch of happy drunk Italians. But weapons without understanding or compassion puts life-or-death decisions in the hands of paranoid, ignorant, racist, warmongers. It's like feeding hot sauce to a rottweiler.
