How to create a Star Trek teleporter effect using After Effects. This was for charmedmadphill who requested it but I don't think this is exactly what he was after sorry. If you could be more specific on the "charmed" effect let me know.

Check out the URL in the descriptions box t this video, you can download all the project files there. Be aware that there is no single png file but a sequence of files that you must import into after effects as a sequence as is shown in the video.

your right man. one time, for a film festival project, i had to mask a person frame by frame and even though he was barely moving, it took FOREVER. because of time constraints, i couldn't use a green screen. it was indeed tedious and ended up looking pretty crappy. greenscreen ftw!!

And also, if you don't have a green screen, couldn't you just have him walk in so that it starts out as a background with no person? Then, you could just clip the footage so that it looks like he's starting in the scene. As long as the lighting is even throughout the shot, it shouldn't matter.

Is there any kind of repository for pre-rendered particle effects in png format like this teleport (so it has alpha)? I could do them in Blender3d but just don't have the time! :-)
