can't believe how ... ( 2 years ago by saraswati81)
can't believe how stable those two swords were on your head during that spin! lol anyway, great control. - but can read the concentration in your face. i always get the same crique and it really annoys me when people say it. - but i can tell with you how much of a difference the whole performance had made, if your face made it look flawless and like you're enjoying yourself. - of course i'm sure you were, but the concentration just gives you a look. (as it does with me)

Good dancing but ... ( 1 year ago by sweetladyc13)
Good dancing but don't grab the top of your sword. It shows the addience it is not sharp. If you were in a comp... they would dock you points. Your great! From one dancer to another.
Saroyan swords ... ( 1 year ago by IsisDeGoth)
Saroyan swords aren't weapons made for weilding, they are professional grade swords made for dancing so of course they're not sharp. I assumed everyone knew this. Thanks for the comment.
Yeah..most people ... ( 1 year ago by Badiabdancer)
Yeah..most people know it isn't sharp but you should still try not to touch that side. That was cool, now I have to find a second sword that is the same as one of the other 2 I have! It's not sharp but its heavy and the tip is pointy...if you drop it on your ankle it does make a dent (as I found out when I first started learning years ago):)

I could have kept watching that for a lot longer than the video. Beautiful!

Strange that I've now received 2 comments referencing touching the dull blade of the sword. My instructor, with 30+ years of Belly Dance background, never mentioned anything about this and I performed double sword in her presence quite a few times.
I've never dropped a sword. Thanks for the comment.

Again I was trying to give you good advice. I have performed double sword for 10 years. I have danced with some of the best. Speeking of wich 2 monthos ago I danced with jillina from the belly dancesuper stars. With neg a attitude you wont get far. Its consterutive criti.... One dancer to another
Please let me know ... ( 1 year ago by IsisDeGoth)
Please let me know when you upload some video of your performances. If you need further opinions about my attitude, which you have concluded to be "negative," feel free to ask Morocco, John Compton, Shakira, Tarik Sultan, Masani Azura or Siham Ali, since you felt so compelled to play the name game.
Constructive criticism is welcome, so long as it is sensible. Have a blessed day =)

Absolutely Beautiful! I have seen you dance in person and you still amaze me. If anyone actually thinks the swords were sharp they are not thinking clearly. Your dance, Your style. You are beautiful.

I see what you are saying and agree. That would look very cool =) Thank you for the suggestion!
i was gonna mention ... ( 1 year ago by saraswati81)
i was gonna mention not touching the "sharp" side of the sword, too.. you're still supposed to give the illusion of it being a sword and respect the prop, not forgetting it's meant to symbolize a sword - a deadly weapon. plus there are people who don't know it's not a real sword. you lose the illusion, though once you touch that "sharp" bit cos if it were real you'd cut yourself! loses the mystery.
But mystery isn't ... ( 1 year ago by IsisDeGoth)
But mystery isn't always necessary. There are times when skill outweighs all. Thanks for the comment =)
hehe. you're ... ( 1 year ago by saraswati81)
hehe. you're welcome! it doesn't take much skill to not touch the sharp edge. over here, my teachers have connections with lots of highly respected teachers and dancers from all over the world, including egypt. my teacher says she can't stand people who touch the blade, cos it's like they forget it even was a sword just some dance prop. many see it that way and take it as a sign between someone who knows what they're doing and someone who doesn't.
Most great teachers ... ( 1 year ago by IsisDeGoth)
Most great teachers have connections. Mine does, too. As I've said before, my instructor, who is a highly respected and well known teacher and performer of nearly 40 years, never scolded any of us for touching the otther side of the sword blade. But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions =D
So, when are you going to post some videos of your dancing? =)
sure, everyone is ... ( 1 year ago by saraswati81)
sure, everyone is entitled. was just filling you in. i just told you what my teachers say i never claimed to be a professional. there's no videos of me dancing and i don't know if i'll ever post any. not like you're missing out on much. :P i mostly dance with a troupe not solos. and we respect each other's privacy. maybe one day i will but uni is weighing in over my head.

I know =) It's always good to hear from another dancer, especially if you're not telling me that I suck LOL Thanks again for the comments and conversation =)
