| Nah, I jhink his tone sounded like Ass back then! I know, Ibanez is even in my username, but I think that the ernie ball just suits HIS playing style better. And its a bassy enough guitar, so it works well with the mesa boogie amps. A trebly guitar and a bassy amp isnt as great a combination as youd think it would be |

| Oh, I love my jem too, but you have to admit, they can sound kind of glassy, especially when clean, and Petrucci doesnt play that much distortion here, so that Glassiness shines through. I really like my Jem555 to my marshall AVT100 setup. You know whats a great sounding setup? An Ibanez into both a marshall and a mesa boogie. But I do intend on geting an ernie ball. ( I've predestined to - My dad has been playing a stingray bass my whole life - its what I was BORN to play!) |

| ok, this is to all of those who compare john petrucci and yngwie they're both awesome guitarists the only difference is their styles, meaning, one is a neo-classical master and the other one an astonishingly good shredder with prog-rock influences but they're both awesome, i like a lot more yngwie but that's because i like a lot his style |

| I totally disagree. Sometimes I find Petrucci just constantly trying to add in random shredding. You see Petrucci cover Comfortably Numb? Not only does it have almost no emotion, but he adds random shredding near the end of the solo. This solo, however, is a much better example of Petrucci's talent. But it must hard to put emotion in covering a solo Gilmour did. Once you've heard it the first time, you know its great. Then you'll hear someone else cover it and you realize the original's better. |
