Even in the 60's they realised putting nuclear weapons under the command of a sergeant was a bad idea!

Primarily a US Army ... ( 1 week ago by PutYourSpamHere)
Primarily a US Army weapon in 1963 the M-65 was issued to certain USAFB in Asia, Korea, Okiknawa and Vietnam. Further tests showed that if launched upwind while in a slit trench or behind a hill there would be no radiation exposure. Having assembled an M-65 it was upgraded over the years. New tachnology makes the latest classified M-71 TNR the new "bad weapon" smaller, lighter and deadlier can be fired by 1 man. You don't want to be in the Neighborhood when they launch this one at you!

It was built as a last resort weapon for a battle in Germany. People however are too stupid to realize that the crew firing it would always have a trench close by to take cover in, everyone just thinks they'd stand there and take the blast.

How does the Tsar Bomba relate to why America shouldn't have gone to war with Russia? The Tsar Bomba was a one off experiment that had no practical combat value whatsoever. Nuclear Warfare has always operated by have numerous small yield devices, rather than a few large ones.

If fallout was a problem, I am sure they could integrate modern borometer mechanisms that trigger an air burst. Even small mortars today have highly advanced devices built into the projectiles that control when the charge is set off.

They don't use this ... ( 1 day ago by Ubermensch150)
They don't use this...it was a test, and since it would harm the soldiers they didn't use it. The military isn't stupid, a nuclear rifle would have been a good idea, but like I said, it was a test, and it didn't work. Before you try to make a smart-ass comment make sure that it is actually smart.

@smart-ass - ah ... ( 12 hours ago by silenthill82)
@smart-ass - ah sorry i meant Ubermensch150: 1. at which line have i said that this weapon has been used in war etc.? the idear of building a nuclear rifle on its own is stupid. 2. be sure, befor they took the test - they already knew that this weapon could harm the own troops. At this time (60s) they have over one decade information about radiation. 3. "a nuclear rifle would have been a good idea" - SORRY!? WHAT??? man you got nervs...
