Philadelphia gave us the O'Jays, MFSB, Harold Melvin and this classic cut from The Tymes in 1974. Part of the album was recorded in NY but is has that unmistakable Philly Sound. Drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie is credited with leading TSONY (The Sound of New York) rhythm section.

You ought to take this stuff on a local cable access channel. Very interesting subject and your intro is very informative, plus you are just as professional in your presentation as anybody I've ever seen on any TV network music program. Who knows, you may get picked up by a network - stranger things have happened.

This is a great track! I love 70s Philly soul since I found a few MFSB LPs at a Salvation Army when i was in college. Feel free to spin some more!

I played bass for the Tymes at a new years party at Myrtle Beach S.C. in a place called the Cabana Terace back in 1985. It was truly an honor I will never forget. Thanks you help bring back memories.

The Tymes were a great group. I remember them back to 63 -- not only "So Much In Love," but a great version of "Wonderful Wonderful." "Trustmaker" and "Ms. Grace" were big Beach Music cult hits. Last I heard, some of these guys were working as housepainters in between oldies gigs. Great group.

I love the tymes, and their earlier hit, "So much in love" is "etched" on my heart, but even though this song is technically, and musically excellent, to me it just doesn't have that special something to make it a hit. I don't know why I feel that way, because I think they're an unbelievabl group, but it just doesn't have that "something special" that So much in love has. Marc.

I'm so thrilled to see people still into this stuff. Even though I said what I said before on their other material, I really think these guys, and "something special". I really do think they may have just missed being one of the great, great, and also famous soul or Doo Wop groups of all time. They had a great sound. Marc Trainor.

You are welcome! I have the vinyl album at home. It's called "Good High". Heavy weed reference. It has a pic of a dude smoking and something like a brick of weed with "100% Pure Brick" stamped on it, then on the back cover, you see a few guys looking up at a pair of platform shoes attached to a guy who is floating away. So cool! But that was the '70s. :)

i love the tymes!! the only reason i cant sample them for tracks is that theyre songs are too upbeat with fast tempos, otherwise, their sound would be perfect for hiphop samples
