Tiger Stadium went down - the New York Knights stadium look quite like it in a way.
It was some semi-professional football stadium in Buffalo that was eventually shut don altogether in 1988. Detroit and Boston were the oldest ballparks until Tiger Stadium was decommissioned. Chicago sure had a long run there out of baseball fame. 86 years for the Chi Sox and now perhaps 100 for the Cubbies. Good Luck!

In the book, Hobbs strikes out and then goes upstairs and shoots the Judge dead. In the book, Hobbs is not as lovable as he is in this movie - he's a little weird, talks to his bat and hears it talking to him.

So much of the movie is hokey and hard to believe, but no sports movie has ever had better images or better music. Any flaws in it end up not mattering a damn. Sort of like with Roy himself: The flaws may have won in the book, but who would love the movie if it had that ending? Probably the lunkheads who think "The Empire Strikes Back" is the best Star Wars film.

Empire is the best...and Roy Hobbs is a god. Not about baseball...this is the best sports movie ever. Up there and tied with Rocky and Hoosiers.
