Mrazek - Underground 8c+/9a (5.14c/d)

Uploaded by: haole420
Video Description:
Tomas Mrazek hangs out for what seems like an hour on this sport route. At one point, he hangs (hands-free) off of a double toe hook. Then he pulls the entire rope through the quickdraws because the drag is too heavy. Totally nuts.

there is not 'much more' than 8c+ to 9a in the french grading system.

I think you missed the point. I was aaying that the route should be graded higher. In other words the French grading system should be expnded to 9b or even 9c. If the route hes been repeated by Sharma or Graham and they agree on the grading, then it should stick. If they have tried it and can't do it then it should be graded higher. There are routes out there that are much harder than 5.15+.

Maybe they can climb up to 9b or 9c or smthng like that. But there is a limit, certainly, due to human physiology. Like in sports - they found out that world records can be increased by 3% more and that's it.

A 3% increase, I assume annually, is a huge amount.

the 3% they are talking about is not an annual increase, unfortunately, but an eternal one! like, unless the human body changes, 3% increase on world records is the max. they can achieve...

I don't think you are correct. History proves other wise.

This is not my opinion. This is calculated by biomechanics and sport science experts in a scientific way. This is also reasonable if you think about it: 3% reduction in the world record of 100m sprint means it will fall from 9.68 s to 9.3896... In how many years can this be reached?

Also in your opinion, which is the limit? Zero seconds? There is a limit bigger than zero, right?
Constant tension ... ( 2 months ago by critinker)
Constant tension along his legs, body and arms amazes me. Especially on cruxes - I'd like to hear how he breathes, because it's difficult when you have to push like that. He barely twitches, it's like watching a machine, amazing! (yet, he rests a lot). Sharma is more a dynamic climber, so I suspect he will have problems repeating this route soon.

Why would sharma try to repeat this route? He has many other projects that are harder than this route.

a years ago I read a very old book (writen almost 20 years ago), and there it says that the human could not climb more than a 14a because of its physiology, but nowadays there are climbers like andrada with his 9b+ proyect in The Cave, or sharma with his 9b jumbo love in clark mountain, so i dont consider those stadistics of 3% is true...each time there will be better climbers...

Yes but, isn't it true that the improvement will be smaller and smaller each time? Were this leads us? Unless we measure more decimals each time, or we are subject to genetic or bionic modifications, I think a saturation will come!
